Grandad's War

For most of us Grandad's (or even Great Grandad's) military service in the 1914-18 Great War is nothing more than a dog-eared old photograph, a distant story that he served in the First World War, a mention that he was wounded or killed at a particular battle, or perhaps if we are lucky even a medal tucked away in a draw somewhere.

At ‘In the footsteps…' we offer a military genealogy search service that can help you find out more. We do not promise to find the answers to all of your questions, but if you know some basic information we are able to search a variety of sources that can potentially start to give you some of them.

We can make a start if you know: -
